Warner Bros. has acquired a 90 page treatment from David Weil, which outlines a plan to adapt the stories in One Thousand and One Nights, aka Arabian Nights, into seven interconnected movies.

According to Deadline, the stories will be interpreted "with modern tropes and themes" and, of course, the movies will be effects-heavy.

3 Arts is producing, with Chantal Nong and Julia Spiro overseeing for WB.

If these movies comes to fruition, this would be great pickup since the studio has been looking for marque franchise to replace the guaranteed money generated by the Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit movies.

Since there are more than seven stories in Arabian Nights, this could potentially be bigger, or at least longer-running, than the franchises it's seeking to replace.
