Vin Diesel Still on Board for 'xXx 3'

It's been years since we've heard any kind of update regarding that long-mooted third installment in the xXx franchise -- you know, the one that'll bring Vin Diesel back to the fold after yielding the starring role to Ice Cube for 2005's xXx: State of the Union. But as easy as it's been to assume that the project is in development limbo, it looks like Diesel hasn't forgotten.

Diesel shared the news during an interview with Collider, coming right out and saying, "I am going to do the next xXx which will be filming in part in the Philippines, which I’m very, very, very excited about."

But as any film fan knows, Diesel's dance card is always full -- and only getting more crowded -- so there are a few things that need to happen before he steps in front of the cameras for xXx 3 (or whatever it's called). First up is Breck Eisner's The Last Witch Hunter, in which he says he'll play "a 700-year-old New Yorker, which should be a lot of fun." Also fun: working with his new Hunter co-star, Michael Caine. "I’ve always wanted to work with Michael Caine so it’ll be the first time I get to work with Michael Caine," he explained. "Rose Leslie is also gonna be opposite me, she’s amazing in Game of Thrones."

And then, after Witch Hunter, Diesel says he'll finally get to film his Kojak adaptation for Universal -- which he promises will be "really exciting" -- plus whatever else develops between now and then. Now that Diesel's in Marvel's orbit as Guardians of the Galaxy's Groot, carving out time between franchises will be more difficult than ever.
