'Vacation' Reboot Adds Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day to Cast

Chris Hemsworth

New Line's Vacation reboot is back on and has added Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day to the cast, according to THR. Hemsworth is playing a TV anchor named Stone Crandall, who's also the husband of Rusty's sister Audrey, and Day will play a river rafting guide.

Directed by Harold Ramis, the original 1983 comedy starred Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo as a married couple who took their whole family on a road trip to Walley World. In the reboot, Ed Helms will play Chase's grown-up son Rusty, with Christina Applegate playing his wife. The pair will also embark on a road trip with their family to the theme park.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will direct from their own script.

Vacation was supposed to shoot last July, but New Line postponed the movie until the necessary revisions were made to the script. Word was that there were some differences of opinion over the movie's rating. Production is now set for September.

Hemsworth will shoot Vacation first and then head to do the Snow White and the Huntsman prequel.
