Tyler Perry Gets 'Double Cross'

QED International is betting Alex Cross, the thriller that's coming to theaters this Friday, is going to be a success because the production company is making a deal with author James Patterson to turn his novel Double Cross into the sequel, according to Deadline.
In Double Cross, another serial killer is on the loose and it's up to Cross and his new partners to put a stop to the killing spree. Lurking in the background is an old nemesis who will make life difficult for our protagonist.
The Cross character was previously played by Morgan Freeman in Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls. Tyler Perry is playing the character in the new movie.
Made for $23 million, there's a very good possibility that Alex Cross will out perform its budget at the box office, so the sequel is as good as made unless there's some falling out among the filmmakers. The poor reviews (13% at Rotten Tomatoes) will dampen its earning potential though.
