"The Transporter Refueled" Still Running Low on Rotten Tomatoes

Ed Skrein in "The Transporter Refueled"

Critics, who were divided on “The Transporter” franchise, are united on their reviews of the reboot. The gauge on Rotten Tomatoes for “The Transporter Refueled” is at a near-empty 16%.

The consensus on the reviews site reads, “The Transporter Refueled has little to offer beyond a handful of decent action sequences, leaving this reboot's title feeling more like wishful thinking than a restatement of purpose.”

The first two Transporter films scored in the low 50s, while the third film dropped to 37%. Those scores, the first two anyway, are decent for mindless action films. But there’s no sugar-coating the new score for the latest installment though.

I saw the film a couple of days ago. I’m with the minority of critics who are entertained -- well, I like a majority of the movie; I just think it runs out of gas towards the end, getting a bit too silly.

Irregardless, many critics and I think Ed Skrein is solid taking over the role originally played by Jason Statham.

Here are the gauge readings for each “Transporter” on Rotten Tomatoes:

1. “The Transporter” 53%
2. “The Transporter 2” 52%
3. “The Transporter 3” 37%
4. “The Transporter Refueled” 16%

As you can see, it gets progressively worse. Let’s hope the next one turns a corner.

UPDATE: "The Transporter Refueled" pumped in $365K last night at the box office.
