'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Trailer Wants to Be Awesome

T4

The new human cast is in place, the Dinobots are on the way, and that June 27 release date is looming -- now is the time for Michael Bay to unleash the first full-length trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction.

"It’s tough to find someone who’s done these kind of movies, and to have the complication of creating the new stuff that needs to be in this movie — not just characters but a new type of action, I hope — and that’s a lot for someone new to bite off," Bay said by way of explanation after signing on for the fourth installment in the Transformers series. "And so after this one I will leave it in the best hands possible. That’s the plan."

Of course, as far as a lot of film fans are concerned, "the best hands possible" for this franchise are lying underneath six feet of dirt in an icy, remote grave at the furthest reaches of the cinematic hinterlands, but as long as these movies keep grossing, Paramount will keep makin' 'em -- all we can do is watch the trailer below and try to deduce whether it offers any kind of improvement over the three Transformers pictures that came before it. Stuff blows up; your mileage may vary.
