Tom Hiddleston Sails for 'Skull Island'

No one was quite sure what to think when Legendary announced it was working on a King Kong origin picture before it had much of anyone attached to actually make the movie happen, but Skull Island seems to be coming together quickly: the studio has lined up a director (Jordan Vogt-Roberts, The Kings of Summer), a screenwriter (Godzilla vet Max Borenstein), and now a star for its cast.

Variety reports that Tom Hiddleston has signed on to play an unnamed role in the picture, which promises to "focus on the giant gorilla’s mysterious and dangerous world."

This is Hiddleston's second Legendary venture of late -- as Variety notes, he's also part of the cast for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Crimson Peak. That picture's due to arrive in theaters on October 16, 2015; Skull Island is set to follow on November 4, 2016.
