Toby Jones Confirms Return for 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

Arnim Zola

Sometimes, it isn't the big, flashy casting announcements that reveal the most information about upcoming blockbusters -- and that might be the case with Toby Jones' recent admission that he'll be returning for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

A relatively minor character in the first Captain America film, Zola is well-known to Marvel Comics fans as one of Cap's worst and most persistent enemies -- a Nazi scientist whose gift for technological innovation allowed him to transfer his (and Adolf Hitler's) brains into cloned bodies at the end of World War II. A sort of immortal cyborg being, Zola has resurfaced repeatedly over the years, using his brilliance to do everything from resurrect Spider-Man's ex-girlfriend to engineer the apparent death of Captain America.

As ComingSoon notes in its report, we saw the blueprints for Zola's robot body in Captain America: The First Avenger, so even though The Winter Soldier takes place decades past the events of that film, there's every reason to believe Cap will be confronted with more than one shocking resurrection from his past.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is scheduled to arrive on traditional and 3D screens on April 4, 2014.
