Tina Fey in Talks to Star in 'Muppets' Sequel

Tina Fey

As if you needed another reason to be excited about the upcoming Muppets sequel, director James Bobin looks like he's adding another big name to his growing cast full of funny people.

Heat Vision reports that Tina Fey is in talks to join Ty Burrell and Ricky Gervais in the film, which is reportedly a good old-fashioned Muppet heist caper that will be set in Europe.

According to Collider, Burrell will star as the villain, described as "a lazy Interpol inspector," with Fey eyeing the role of "a Russian gulag prison guard" -- all of which sounds more than sufficient to soothe the burn of Jason Segel's departure from the franchise after 2011's The Muppets.

Production on Muppets 2 is scheduled to kick off in London over the next few weeks. The franchise's track record with sequels is admittedly spotty, but it seems like its recent reboot -- and Bobin's steady stewardship -- might have things back on track.
