'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Teaser Trailer, Official Synopsis Revealed

We don't always play the teaser trailer game around here, but few upcoming projects have generated as much curiosity -- or intense concern, or dread, whatever you want to call it -- as Paramount's next stab at turning Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into a franchise. The TMNT teaser isn't your average sneak peek, in other words -- and it's right here.
"The city needs heroes," reads the studio's official synopsis. "Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan."
Human Turtles star Will Arnett debuted this clip during an episode of the Today show, which manages to monkey with TMNT canon and reveal the new-look Turtles in roughly 90 seconds. In other words: If you've been worried about what a Michael Bay-produced Turtles flick would do to the characters, this probably isn't going to put your mind at ease. And if you weren't a fan before...well, you probably don't care about this movie, so it's tempting to wonder what director Jonathan Liebesman is up to here. Take a look for yourself:
