'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Release Date Moved Back

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Paramount's live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot will be arriving two months later than originally planned. Instead of June 6, 2014, the movie is now scheduled to open on August 8, 2014.

The move, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will prevent the movie from being eclipsed at the box office by other family-friendly films such as The Good Dinosaur, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Transformers 4, and others.

However, Deadline believes the move is so that Paramount can spread out the marketing dollars by moving the release dates of Transformers 4 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles further apart.

Ninja Turtles will now go head-to-head with Universal's Dracula and Disney's The Hundred-Foot Journey, which are opening on the same day.

Directed by Wrath of the Titans' Jonathan Liebesman, the movie stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, and Danny Woodburn. The Turtles, which are mo-capped, are played by Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, and Pete Ploszek.
