Svetlana Khodchenkova May Play Viper in 'The Wolverine'

According to Twitch, Fox looking at 29-year-old Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova to play Viper.

With production set to begin sometime next month, The Wolverine, sequel to 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is beginning to finalize its cast.

Word came out last week that Jessica Biel was in talks for the role of Viper, who is one of the unwelcoming committee greeting Logan/Wolverine during his stay in Japan.

But, according to Collider, talks have broken down, and Fox is talking with other actresses for the role. No reason was given on why things didn't work out.

As reported earlier, Hiroyuki Sanada is playing Shingen Yashida, Will Yun Lee is playing Kenuichio Harada aka the Silver Samurai, and Tao Okamoto is playing Logan's love interest, Mariko. Hugh Jackman is returning to reprise his role as the title character.

The Wolverine is to be directed by James Mangold for a July 26, 2013 release. The latest adventure will find Logan/Wolverine in Japan, where he will have an ill-fated romance with Mariko, the daughter of a yakuza boss.
