Surprise, Surprise: "Breaking Dawn Part 2" Debuts to Good Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2

Let’s hope the Twilight series end on a critically good note. That’s a tough feat to accomplish because the previous four films averaged an anemic 38% on Rotten Tomatoes, with none ever entering the Fresh territory (60% or above).

I feel kinda bad because Stephenie Meyer actually gave Rotten Tomatoes a mention in one of her books. But hey, the films have made a ton of money at the box office, and that’s probably more important.

Since the previous film only managed to score a measly 25% on the Tomatometer, the lowest in the franchise, I’m surprised to see “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” debut on Rotten Tomatoes with a perfect 100%. Sure, it’s still really early, and it’s only based on six reviews.

Although none of the reviewers are calling “Breaking Dawn Part 2” a masterpiece, they all agree that it’s the best of the series, with an epic battle in the end that pushes the limits of the PG-13 rating and embraces the franchise’s genre roots.

By Friday, when it’s all said and done, I don’t think reviews will stay this good, but it does have a good chance of being the only film in the franchise to get a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
