With just about six months to go before it touches down in theaters, Star Trek Into Darkness has itself a brand new official synopsis.

As befits a J.J. Abrams production, Darkness' synopsis doesn't reveal a whole heck of a lot about the story -- in fact, it includes a choice turn of phrase that suggests those hotly contested rumors about a certain villain whose name rhymes with "flan" might actually be accurate after all, which we're taking to be another act of fanboy-trolling subterfuge on Abrams' part, unless it isn't, in which case...well, we give up; we're just going to wait until the trusty Enterprise actually embarks on its next mission for real.

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes "Star Trek Into Darkness."

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
