Sony Rebooting 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'

Because it's been nearly a decade since the last cheapo direct-to-video I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel -- and because America just can't get enough of nubile young things in white tank tops being pursued by homicidal maniacs -- Sony has apparently hit the reboot button on the formerly Jennifer Love Hewitt-led franchise, snaring the creative team behind this year's horror hit Oculus to re-adapt the 1973 Lois Duncan book that started it all.
The plot, as if it matters, centers around a gaggle of good-looking but callow youth (a group rounded out by Ryan Phillippe, Freddy Prinze, Jr., and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the 1997 original) who accidentally commit a crime and cover it up in panic, only to discover months later that their dirty deeds did not go unnoticed.
Oculus co-writer/director Mike Flanagan and his partner Jeff Howard are at work on the reboot, with Neal Moritz attached to produce; according to Deadline, the studio is hoping the pair will work their micro-budget magic on the franchise -- and in a hurry, as they're reportedly eyeing a 2016 release date.
The search is now apparently on for a new young lady who can fill out a form-fitting wardrobe while screaming. Is Alexandra Daddario busy?
