Shane Black Says His 'Predator' Is a Sequel

chosen to helm the new Predator movie, is saying.
Speaking with Collider, Black says he and screenwriter Fred Dekker see the new movie as an "inventive sequel" rather than a reboot because "[w]hy start over, when you've all this rich mythology yet to mine?"
Besides, he likes "the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button."
The question, of course, if whether or not Fox shares Black's vision. They must or else why hire him? As long as Black can revive this franchise, the studio will go along with whatever he has in mind.
Maybe they ought to give Arnold Schwarzenegger to see what he's up to. He should be very affordable right now.
