The Hobbit

According to The Hollywood Reporter (via Slashfilm), the third Hobbit movie will take the title of the second movie, which is The Hobbit: There and Back Again, while the second movie is retitled to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. New Line has also set the third movie for release on July 18, 2014.

The third Hobbit movie is scheduled to go before the camera next summer for a two months shoot. The extra material being filmed is said to have come from the appendices of The Lord of the Rings books and will be intercolated into the story of The Hobbit.

The fan site TheOneRing discovered that New Line had registered the titles of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in July. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is coming out on December 13, 2013.
