Rob Reiner Directing the Thriller 'You Belong To Me'
The movie is described as Cape Fear-ish and will center on a psychiatrist who likes to talk about himself. Cape Fear, for those who don't know, is about a former convict who tries to make the life of the lawyer who've defended him miserable by hurting those around him before going in for the kill.
It is not known whether it is the psychiatrist or one of his patient who will be doing the stalking in You Belong To Me, but bet on it being the patient.
While Reiner's resume is filled with light-hearted fare, he has done more serious dramas before like A Few Good Men, Ghosts of Mississippi, and Misery. It's just that he doesn't do much of them.
The reason he gives is that they are “hard to make well” and he has rarely seen one that surprised him like You Belong to Me. I guess it's Reiner's way of saying romantic comedies and feel-good movies are easier to make.
Reiner recently directed Morgan Freeman and Virginia Madsen in the drama The Magic of Belle Isle in which Freeman plays a wheel-chair bound author who befriends a single mother and her three children. They will, of course, be his muse. The movie will be in select theaters on July 6.
Besides directing actors behind the camera, Reiner is known to appear in front of it once in a while as well. He was recently cast as the father of Leonardo DiCaprio's character in Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street.
