'Resident Evil 6' Announced for 2014

They're critically maligned and pretty much always have been, but the Resident Evil movies simply will not stop making money -- the franchise's most recent installment, last year's Resident Evil: Retribution, rolled up more than $220 million in worldwide grosses. So you know what that means: We're getting a Resident Evil 6.
Shock Till You Drop reports that Sony and Screen Gems have set September 12, 2014 for RE6's theatrical bow, and while plot points remain unknown, they're also largely irrelevant, because as long as Milla Jovovich or a reasonable facsimile thereof is on hand to shoot stuff, the audiences will follow.
A note of minor encouragement comes courtesy of Collider, where director Paul W.S. Anderson revealed that his idea for the next sequel "involved a lot of death and would possibly bring the franchise to a close." Something tells us we'll actually be getting a reboot with a creative team that comes even cheaper, but at the moment, we can at least take comfort in the thought that some sort of end might be in sight.
