Quvenzhané Wallis Confirmed for 'Annie' Remake

Quvenzhane Wallis

In almost any other year, Willow Smith's departure from the Annie remake would mean potentially dire straits for director Will Gluck. Fortunately, Hollywood has served up an amazing young actress to lead the new cast through "It's a Hard Knock Life" in Willow's stead: Beasts of the Southern Wild star (and Oscar nominee) Quvenzhané Wallis.

As Collider points out in its report, we haven't heard Wallis sing in a movie yet -- but anyone can take singing lessons, and her acting prowess seems scarily innate, so there's no reason to worry.

Now that Wallis has been confirmed, Gluck can focus on rewriting the script left behind by Aline Brosh McKenna. The clock is ticking, too; Overbrook hopes to have Annie in theaters by the winter of next year.
