Fast & Furious star Paul Walker has died in a single car accident Saturday afternoon after attending a charity event. He was 40.

According a posting on his official Facebook fan page, Walker was a passenger in his friend's car when the accident, in which they both lost their lives, occurred. However, witnesses say Walker was the one behind the wheel.

TMZ's sources say the car's driver "somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree ... and then the car burst into flames." It is unknown what caused the car to lose control.

The accident occurred around 3:30 PM in Santa Clarita, and Walker was attending a car show in the area to support his charity organization Reach Out Worldwide.

TheWrap has pieced together what happened during that day.

Walker is in the middle of filming Fast & Furious 7, so his death is a major blow to the movie and its subsequent sequels.
