Paranormal Activity 4

Have you ever wanted to watch someone's home movies on a really big screen? Your dreams are close to coming true.

In what seems like a rather superfluous move (but one that will probably pad the movie's box office grosses anyway), Paramount has announced that Paranormal Activity 4 will be remastered for IMAX.

While a found footage horror sequel may not seem like the most natural fit for the format, Activity's jump to the super-sized screen is just the latest coup for IMAX, which has been trying to position itself as a premium destination for first-release filmgoers over the last decade.

While it remains to be seen what the picture's increased size will bring to the franchise's lo-fi scares, we're sure plenty of fans will decide that bigger is better, which should lead to further technological innovations for future installments. Paranormal Activity 5 in IMAX 3D, anyone?
