"Painkiller Jane" Will Be An R-Rated Wolverine

The Twisted Twins, writer/directors Jen and Sylvia Soska, have had a whirlwind career since their second film, American Mary, swept horror film festivals. They were hired by WWE Studios to direct See No Evil 2 and another film Vendetta, and now they’ve landed the gig making a Painkiller Jane movie. In the Soskas’ hands, Jane can be a truly R-rated comic book hero.
“The cool thing about Jane, she has a regenerating power,” Sylvia said. “Jennifer and I are the biggest Deadpool fans on the planet, to the point that we have been thinking about regenerating effects because they’ve never been done quite right. In the Wolverine comics, it’s bloody, he gets murdered. We have a PG-13 universe that the X-Men have to live in, respectfully so. Thankfully Jane can live in a hard R world. The sh*t she does, the language she has, the violence in it. She becomes like a terminator Wolverine with pieces busting off of her and then regenerating. I want to see that horror show, so I feel very lucky that we’re going to do it.”
We can count on the Soskas to deliver the body horror of Painkiller Jane’s body regenerations. We can also count on them to make her a full bodied woman.
“One of the best things about Jane is even if she didn’t have superpowers, she’s an incredible character,” Jen said. “She’s so strong. She takes no bullsh*t, she suffers no fools and she never relies on anyone to save her, kind of a little bit like Mary. But also, I hate to point the finger at the studios, she’s not like these superheroines that are rake thin and they’re standing next to Chris Hemsworth who is a living muscle, and then you have these tiny little waify girls. I don’t believe that she can kick ass. Jane is going to be one of those girls that if you bump into her at a bar and spill her beer, oh f***.”
