'Out of the Furnace' Trailer Pits Christian Bale Against Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson excels at playing sweaty, squirrelly-eyed lunatics, and no one's better than Christian Bale when it comes to playing characters who have to go through physical and emotional torment in order to right a wrong. Put them both together, and what have you got? This fall's Out of the Furnace.
The simple-sounding premise behind the movie is fairly familiar, but this trailer makes it seem ferociously compelling -- partly because of the performances delivered by a cast stuffed with Academy Awards winners and nominees (including Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, and Sam Shepard), and partly because...well, there's a lot of drama to be wrung from a story about an older brother (Bale) who has to rescue his sibling (Affleck) from the clutches of a no-good yayhoo (Harrelson), even though his lady (Saldana) begs him not to.
Arriving smack dab in the heart of awards-bait season on December 6, and boasting plenty of thudding action to go with its well-acted drama (not to mention a new song from Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder), Out of the Furnace looks like another critical winner for Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper.
