Hard to believe, but a movie based on Hasbro's Ouija board game was once imagined as a blockbuster, with a budget budget of over $100 million, to be directed by McG. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed.

However, both Hasbro and Universal are obstinately marching forward with a Ouija branded movie, if at a significantly lower budget of $5 million.

Of course, one can't do a $100 million plus movie with a budget of only $5 million, so the script will have to be rewritten to make it work.

According to Variety, Universal has enlisted Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to write and direct the movie. The pair wrote 2009's Knowing, The Possession, which is coming out in August this year, and the forthcoming Poltergeist remake. They will make their feature debut with Ouija.

With such a low budget, don't expect much in the way of effects or see anyone recognizable in the movie.
