'The November Man' Will Get a Sequel

November Man

Thus far, the reviews for Pierce Brosnan's upcoming action thriller The November Man have been pretty awful -- and the movie hasn't even opened yet -- but clearly, Relativity Media like what they have on their hands here, because according to Brosnan, the studio is already moving ahead with a sequel.

As Screen Rant notes, the move makes nothing but sense from a franchise perspective, because November was adapted from a series of more than a dozen novels by bestselling author Bill Granger. With the rights to the books presumably all locked up, there's no reason to switch off the conveyor belt unless audiences really, truly turn their backs on the first installment.

Ordinarily, one would assume that studio execs would wait and see how the first film in a presumed series does at the box office before hitting "go" on a sequel, but those are the old Hollywood rules, brothers and sisters -- these days, brand recognition trumps everything, even common sense, and while Disney, Marvel and Warners lay claim to scores of release dates with untold sequels, tie-ins, and spinoffs over the next decade, it's only natural to expect that other companies will follow suit. Hope you like shooting bad guys, Pierce.
