Nooo! Donnie Yen Signs Up for a Pair of Comedies

Donnie Yen’s encroaching on Jackie Chan’s territory, signing up for two upcoming comedies, one of which is an action comedy. Eighth Happiness 2012 we can pretty much skip because it’s one of those comedies that gets released every Chinese New Year. I’m not saying it's gonna bad, it’s just there won’t be any ass-kicking.

Thunder Cop will be an action comedy. Although I’m glad Yen’s finally making another modern day action movie, I’m not sure about his comedic skills. He hasn’t shown any in his previous films, and the guy has a lenghy filmography. Hopefully, there’s more action than comedy, and I really don’t mind if the action does a series of machine gun punches to the comedy.

With these two films and the action thriller Assassin Couple (a remake of Mr. and Mrs. Smith), I guess he's probably not doing The Expendables 2.
