New 'Turbo' Trailer Tells a Snail's Tale

Plenty of kids' movies preach the value of learning how to be happy with yourself as you are, but there's a distinct lack of films that tell you any of your dreams are in reach so long as you wish upon a star and are then sucked into a car's nitrous exhaust system. That's where Turbo comes in.
Starring Ryan Reynolds as the voice of a snail who desperately wants to be fast, Turbo combines a handful of seemingly disparate elements (Big, Cake on the soundtrack, Goonies quotes), tops them off with a nod to oppressed taco vendors everywhere, and emerges with one of the goofiest-looking -- and slickest -- animated efforts of the summer.
It sounds and looks (and probably is) somewhat ridiculous, but given the talent behind the scenes (which includes Madagascar storyboard artist/animator Darren Lemke), that's no reason to dismiss it out of hand. Take a look at the trailer below and decide for yourself whether you'll be taking the kids to see Turbo on July 17.
