New 'Thor: The Dark World' Trailer Lingers in Asgard

Thor 2

November 8, when Thor: The Dark World rides into theaters, still seems awfully far away -- but in honor of YouTube's Geek Week, Marvel has unleashed a second trailer that adds a few extra glimpses of what we can expect from the Thor sequel.

In essence, this is an expanded version of the first trailer, which quickly sketched the bare outline of The Dark World's plot: Asgard and Earth are being threatened by a "darkness" that's been lurking since before the creation of the universe, which seems like a sufficient enough threat to let Thor's brother Loki out of the prison he's been cooped up in since The Avengers. In the meantime, Thor's human sweetheart, Jane Foster, is back in the mix, having been plucked from Earth and brought to Asgard for safekeeping.

If the new trailer doesn't reveal much in terms of story, it does add a few extra shots from the film, including a comedic tag that proves new director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) won't completely forsake Chris Hemsworth's gift for gags in this installment. Check it out below:
