New 'RED 2' Trailer Gets Cheerfully Violent

Red 2

In spite of its showy cast, 2010's RED wasn't much more than a pleasantly mind-numbing dose of your average Hollywood over-the-top action thriller, retooled to incorporate the admittedly clever twist of having AARP-eligible actors doing the fake killing -- but it grossed nearly $200 million during its box office run, so now it's a franchise, and Summit's got a new theatrical trailer for RED 2 to prove it.

Due July 19, the sequel reunites Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, and Helen Mirren, adding in Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones (as well as South Korean star Lee Byung-hun for an added burst of Lethal Weapon 4-style exotic menace) to tell the story of...well, it doesn't really matter much, but this time around, our gang is reunited in pursuit of a missing nuclear weapon.

How long before we get a RED/Expendables crossover and achieve senior citizen action hero singularity? Consider the question while checking out the trailer, embedded below.
