Normally, a trailer gives an overview of what a movie is about, but this new trailer for Brave is more like an extended clip. Check it out below.

In the new trailer, it seems like three of the local boys are competing in an archery contest for the hand of Merida, the princess of the Irish Highlands.

As you can see, they are an inept bunch, with multiple character flaws. You can forgive Merida for not wanting to hook up with them.

There are a couple of takeaways from this sequence. Merida's mother is the traditionalist in the family. She wants her daughter to do what she's told and, generally, not question traditions.

You can see where Merida got her stubbornness from.

Merida's dad, the king, is more sympathetic with her daughter. He wants Merida to follow her heart, but as the king, he is bound by traditions as well.

Merida is really good with the bow and is not afraid to use it.

The warriors in the tribe are not very warrior-like, at least the newer generation is not. When danger comes, and you know it will, they're not going to be of much help. This sets up Merida to come in and save the day.
