'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' Sequel to Restart Production in 2014
The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, the sequel to The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, was gearing up to shoot last month, but then, reality hits. City of Bones opened to poor reviews and underperformed at the box office, causing to Constantin Films to put the brakes on City of Ashes indefinitely.
One month later, Constantin Film is once again pushing ahead with the sequel and will restart production on City of Ashes sometime in 2014, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"The fan response, from the blogosphere and the thousands of mails we have received, has encouraged us to keep going," Constantin Film's Martin Moszkowicz said.
It's good to receive fan mails, but that's unlikely the reason the sequel is moving forward again. It probably has more to do with the movie closing in on the $100 million mark at the box office.
For City of Ashes, Moszkowicz says they're going to broaden their marketing to include the books' older readers instead of focusing all their efforts on the teenage ones.
They may also want to avoid the 12% Tomatometer score for the sequel too.
