Marc Webb May Not Return to Direct 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'; 'Men in Black 4', and Possibly Beyond, in the Works

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is coming to theaters on May 2, 2014, but Marc Webb may not be back to see it through, according to Columbia Pictures' head honcho Doug Belgrad.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Belgrad said there are “obstacles” for his return.
“We'd really like him back, but there are obstacles. He has an obligation to Fox,” Belgrad explained, referring to a unnamed movie Webb is contracted to do for Fox.
Regardless who will end up directing the sequel, the next movie will follow Peter Parker in his quest to find out more about his missing parents and the larger conspiracy he's embroiled in.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are currently rewriting James Vanderbilt's script for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
In other Sony Pictures-related news, Belgrad confirms that there will be a fourth Men in Black movie and possibly more beyond that.
“We're very pleased with the financial performance of Men in Black 3, and we believe it is an ongoing franchise. We're going to do [another one], but we don't have clarity yet on how it should be done,” Belgrad told THR.
Unless Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are paid handsomely for their services again, it's doubtful they'll return for Men in Black 4.
