Kevin Smith's 'Comes the Krampus' Retitled To 'Anti-Claus'

Krampus

Do you know what a Krampus is? No? Maybe that's why Kevin Smith's Christmas horror tale Comes the Krampus has been renamed to Anti-Claus.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, XYZ Films will be presenting the movie, which should be shooting right now, to prospective buyers with the new title at Cannes. The above picture is a rendering of the said Krampus, aka the Anti-Claus.

So what is a Krampus? It's a devil-like creature that shows up during Christmas to feed on naughty children.

Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez and Michael Parks will star in the movie.

Smith was supposed to shoot Clerks III after Tusk, but when Anti-Claus presented itself, he decided push back Clerks III and shoot that instead.

"Now, at this point in time, nobody but me can make a CLERKS film," Smith wrote on Reddit. "But ANYONE can make a Krampus picture. So before anyone else does, I figured it's time to keep moving forward: we're gonna shoot COMES THE KRAMPUS in April, before CLERKS III."

As to what Anti-Claus will be like, it looks like it's going to be one of Smith's quickies.

"We've got a 20 day schedule and an under-3 million budget, and lots of folks returning from TUSK as well as other flicks I've done," Smith said.
