Kevin Smith To Make Girl Power Horror Movie And Jaws With A Moose

Kevin Smith showed the trailer to his new horror film Tusk during his annual Q&A session at San Diego Comic-Con. Tusk sprung from a podcast about a UK hoax where a man offered free room and board to anyone who would be willing to wear a walrus suit. Smith made a horror movie where Michael Parkes really turns Justin Long into a landlord.
His next film was motivated by watching movies with his daughter that were all about boys. Yoga Hosers is for everyone, but stars two teenage girls. "It is a movie for you so you don't have to watch one more dumb boy do something super," Smith said. "Now you get to do something super. They're heroic in the movie. These two girls go on this adventure and fight supernatural powers. I'm in this very, very specific horror mode right now. Tusk is the first in what's becoming a trilogy of horror movies, the True North Trilogy. There's Tusk. The next one is Yoga Hosers and both of them share in common rubber makeup, prosthetics, monsters. So the two girls in Yoga Hosers fight supernatural powers. I'm not going to tell you what it is but they'll probably run me out of the country for it but it's really, really fun and hopefully we can skate in with a PG-13."
The third horror film is a riff on a shark classic, but with a different creature. "The last movie in the horror cycle is called Moose Jaws and that's just Jaws with a moose. It's awesome. I'm halfway through the script, there's a scene where the moose is eating a nine-year-old kid right out of the lake."
Tusk opens September 19.
