Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange, one of Marvel's post-2015 or Phase 3 movies, is ready to bring on a director. Among those Marvel has met or is planning to meet are Jonathan Levine (50/50), Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair), Mark Andrews (Brave), and Dean Israelite (Welcome to Yesterday), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Marvel is also looking to bring on a writer to work closely with the director to shape the screenplay, but if the director could also accomplish both tasks, even better. Kung Fu Panda's Jon Aibel and Glenn Berger are reportedly in the mix for to write the screenplay.

Doctor Strange, the character, is a former surgeon who becomes one of the most powerful sorcerer in the universe. It is very likely we'll see the character show up in one of Marvel's movies preceding Doctor Strange.

As to who will play the character, Johnny Depp is reportedly being eyed, but his involvement will affect the next Pirates of The Caribbean, according Latino Review's source, because Disney will have to shift the production of Pirates to make the schedules work.

According to Bleeding Cool, Mads Mikkelsen is also in the running to play the character.

Marvel has not set a release date for Doctor Strange, but the earliest might be sometime in 2016.
