J.J. Abrams Reveals 'Star Wars: Episode VII' X-Wing

We can't (yet) see what our old friends Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewbacca are up to on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, but we've already been granted a sneak peek of R2-D2 -- and now, director J.J. Abrams has thrown back the curtain on our first look at the return of the X-wing fighter.

The ship, piloted by Rebel insurgents in their battle against the Empire, seems set to be making a return to action in Episode VII, at least judging from the glimpse we get via Abrams' new "Force for Change" video.

The "Force for Change" program, set up by Disney to help raise money in search of "creative solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems," has been offering an assortment of Star Wars goodies in exchange for donations, including (if you chip in this week) an opportunity to host an advance screening in your own home. But whether or not you donate, you can see the above X-wing, parked outside a hangar at what looks like the film's Tattooine set.

Harrison Ford's recent on-set injury has reportedly set back production by a couple of weeks, but as of right now, Episode VII is on target to reach its December 18, 2015 release date. Here's hoping we get to see more of what's going down in a galaxy far, far away soon.
