Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is reuniting with his Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls director Steve Oedekerk for Summit's Ricky Stanicky, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will play the title character. So, what will this mean for Dumb and Dumber To, the sequel to Carrey's 1994 comedy Dumb & Dumber?

According to the report, Oedekerk will direct the comedy, but first, he needs to re-write Jeff Bushell's script.

Ricky Stanicky is about three grown ups who in their teens fabricated a person, Ricky Stanicky, to take the blame for a prank which resulted in a house burning down. As adults, they still bring up Stanicky's name to get out of sticky situations. When their significant others call them out and ask to meet this person, they hire an out-of-work actor to assume the role.

They're looking at a summer start date so this shouldn't interfere with Dumb and Dumber To, which is looking to shoot sometime next year. At least that's the hope.

Carrey is also attached to star in Jared Hess' Loomis Fargo, an action-comedy about several disgruntled bank employees conspiring to steal $17 million from the bank. This movie should already be in production.
