Javier Bardem in Talks for 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'

Javier Bardem

According to TheWrap, Javier Bardem is in "early talks" to play one of the bad guys in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He would play Captain Brand, a ghost who holds a grudge against Jack Sparrow for the murder of his brother and is looking for a supernatural object to help him get his revenge.

Besides the new villain, there will also be a new love interest for our captain -- a woman who is accused of being a witch -- and a young man who would join them in their adventure.

Johnny Depp will play Sparrow, with Geoffrey Rush and Orlando Bloom returning to reprise their roles.

Kon Tiki's Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are directing. Production is set for early 2015 in Australia and is expected to last for five months.

If there are no delays, we can expect to see the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean in theaters on July 7, 2017.
