Jason Momoa Reportedly Confirmed as Aquaman in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

You know the old saying about "where there's smoke, there's fire?" Well, Warner Bros. is clearly gathering some pretty big logs for an announcement regarding its stewardship of the DC universe, because this week has been full of rumors about the studio's (apparently quite ambitious) plans for an upcoming slate of superhero movies. Just days after word leaked out about a Comic-Con announcement that will reportedly reveal a slew of upcoming DC-inspired movies, now we're hearing that the rampant rumors regarding Jason Momoa having a role in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice have been confirmed.

Momoa, recently the focus of intense speculation regarding the role of Aquaman, has apparently been locked up for what HitFix is calling a relatively minor appearance in Dawn of Justice, to be followed by a series of appearances in subsequent films -- including, one imagines, Justice League in 2017.

According to HitFix's report, Aquaman's involvement in Dawn of Justice stems from the cataclysmic battle between Superman and Zod at the end of Man of Steel -- specifically, the horrible damage wrought by Zod's "World Engine." The Dawn of Justice plot is rumored to at least partially revolve around Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) making Superman out to be a huge problem for the Earth, and after the World Engine's destruction (specifically to the Indian Ocean), Aquaman is inclined to agree.

This is all speculation for now, but there's an awful lot of smoke billowing out of the Warner Bros. rumor mill -- we should be seeing a long list of confirmations start rolling in soon.
