Jared Harris Boards 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E'; New Synopsis Released

Jared Harris is joining Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer in Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Warner Bros. has announced (via Dark Horizons). Details of his role is unknown, but he'll play a person named Sanders.

Cavill is playing CIA agent Napoleon Solo who must team up with Hammer's KGB agent Illya Kuryakin to stop a mysterious international criminal organization from distributing nuclear weapons.

Alicia Vikander is playing a British agent, and Hugh Grant is playing the head of the British Naval Intelligence. Elizabeth Debicki is onboard as the femme fatale and may be the daughter of a German scientist mentioned in the synopsis below.

Ritchie is directing from a script he wrote with Lionel Wigram and filming will begin next week over in Europe. A release date has not been set.

Here's the official synopsis:

Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. centers on CIA agent Solo (Cavill) and KGB agent Kuryakin (Hammer).

Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology.

The duo's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
