James DeMonaco Will Return for Third 'Purge'

When a movie is made for $9 million but manages to pull in over $100 million at the global box office, you know the sequel coming. So, as expected, the people who've brought us The Purge and The Purge: Anarchy are working on a third Purge movie, Deadline has learned.
James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the first two movies, will return to write, and may direct, the third.
No word on what the plot will be, but it is expected to follow the theme of the previous two where for one night out of the year, people are allowed to commit violent crimes against one another without any repercussions.
The success of the Purge movies surprised even DeMonaco.
"I never imagined that The Purge would become the phenomenon it has become," DeMonaco told Deadline, "and I am thrilled to continue my collaboration with Blumhouse, Sebastien Lemercier, Platinum Dunes and the great team at Universal in building The Purge into a worldwide franchise."
Here's hoping DeMonaco leverages this into bigger, better things.
