Jai Courtney and Boyd Holbrook Up For Kyle Reese in 'Terminator: Genesis'

Terminator

The last major role, that of Kyle Reese, in Terminator: Genesis is down to Jai Courtney and Boyd Holbrook, according to Deadline. Reese is John Connor's father, and he was played by Michael Biehn in the original.

Courtney played Bruce Willis' son in A Good Day to Die Hard and can be seen as Eric in the big screen adaptation of Veronica Roth's novel Divergent and its subsequent sequel Insurgent. Holbrook made his feature debut in Milk, the 2008 Harvey Milk biopic, and was recently seen in Out of the Furnace.

Whoever wins the role will join Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will reprise as the T-800, Jason Clarke, and Emilia Clarke. Jason will play the leader of the human resistance John Connor, with Emilia playing his mother Sarah Connor. Thor: The Dark World's Alan Taylor is directing.

The storyline, which will span three movies, reportedly involves a time jump into the future.

The rights to Terminator reverts back to James Cameron in 2019 so they better move fast if they want to fit in three movies. However, that won't be an issue should the first movie bombed at the box office.

Terminator: Genesis is schedule for release on July 1, 2015.
