'Insidious: Chapter 2' Trailer Promises Insidious-er Horror

While it wasn't exactly hailed as a modern horror classic, 2011's Insidious performed respectably with critics and audiences, so naturally, we're creeping up on a sequel -- and now you can get your first look at Insidious: Chapter 2.
In spite of its rather generic title, director James Wan recently promised Empire that "In a lot of ways, Insidious: Chapter 2 is a slightly different horror subgenre to Insidious." Although he wasn't willing to provide much in the way of concrete details, he did allow that the new movie picks up where the first left off, and takes viewers straight to hell.
"Where the first one is a twist on the haunted house genre, this one is kind of a twist on the domestic thriller," explained Wan. "It's more like The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, or Pacific Heights, or The Stepfather. It's sort of what they used to call a 'From Hell' movie, where you had the babysitter from Hell or the tenant from Hell. This is the loved one from Hell. We're not sure about a particular character who has 'returned' from the other dimension and may have brought something back..."
So there you have it. This trailer doesn't give many clues as to who or what is coming from hell, but it's plenty freaky in its own right. If your phobias include loose teeth and shrieking intruders, you might want to keep the lights on while watching this. Insidious: Chapter 2 arrives in theaters on September 13.
