'Insidious' Cast and Crew Returning for Sequel in August 2013

Insidious director James Wan might be helming the upcoming MacGyver movie, but that doesn't mean he's forsaken horror.
FilmDistrict proved it today with the announcement that Wan will be returning for Insidious Chapter 2, set to arrive in theaters August 30, 2013 with most of the original's cast and crew intact.
Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, and Ty Simpkins are reprising their roles from the first film, which Wan will direct from a script by Insidious screenwriter Leigh Whannell.
Jason Blum of Blumhouse, who produced the original, announced the deal with an appropriately enthusiastic level of corporate-speak, issuing a statement that said "Blumhouse is committed to empowering filmmakers to tell their stories and we are excited to do that once again with the team from the first 'Insidious' including James and Leigh and the original cast. We also look forward to working with our partners on the first film -- FilmDistrict, Alliance and Sony."
While far from a critical darling, Insidious produced a $97.5 million worldwide return on the studio's $1.5 million investment -- not to mention a sequel-ready storyline about a creepy old demon lady possessing her victims from an undead realm called the Further. Unless Insidious Chapter 2 completely crashes and burns, we can probably expect things to get Insidious-er for years to come.
