'Horrible Bosses 2' Plot Synopsis Revealed

Horrible Bosses

While it was certainly funny enough, nothing about Horrible Bosses left us begging for a sequel -- but then, we don't work at New Line, where execs spent a good few months counting every penny of the $200 million and change it brought in at the box office. Naturally, we're now looking down the barrel of Horrible Bosses 2.

Given the relatively simple nature of the first film's setup, it wouldn't be unreasonable to fear that the sequel would once again find the hapless buddies played by Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis fighting for their professional dignity against horr...well, you already know. But judging from the official synopsis recently revealed by the studio, Horrible Bosses 2 will serve up something of a twist. Check it out:

Fed up with answering to higher-ups, Nick, Dale and Kurt decide to become their own bosses by launching their own business in “Horrible Bosses 2.” But a slick investor soon pulls the rug out from under them. Outplayed and desperate, and with no legal recourse, the three would-be entrepreneurs hatch a misguided plan to kidnap the investor’s adult son and ransom him to regain control of their company.

Christoph Waltz plays the investor, while Chris Pine plays his son -- and if Bosses 2 continues the first film's tradition of allowing quality actors to ham it up with cartoonishly villainous roles, we suppose it isn't out of the question for the sequel to wring another 90 minutes of reliable laughs out of what seemed like a one-movie premise. We'll find out when it arrives in theaters on Nov. 26, 2014.
