Harrison Ford Busts an Ankle on the 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Set

Harrison Ford

He may or may not have shot first, but Han was certainly injured first -- or at least his real-life counterpart, Harrison Ford, was when he reportedly hurt his ankle on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII this week, necessitating a trip to the local hospital.

It sounds serious, but according to a statement from Disney, it won't derail the production schedule. "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII," reads the studio's press release. "He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates."

The Hollywood Reporter's source says Ford was wounded by the door of Solo's old spaceship, the Millennium Falcon, but further details of the incident -- like the plot of the long-awaited sequel -- are thus far being kept under wraps.

This isn't the first time a high-profile Disney production has had to cope with a star's busted ankle; Robert Downey, Jr. suffered the same fate while filming Iron Man 3, forcing alterations to the shooting schedule while he recuperated. One imagines Episode VII director J.J. Abrams will make similar changes in order to make Episode VII's target release date of December 18, 2015.
