Guillermo del Toro Debuts Awesome New 'Pacific Rim' Trailer

There are movies that want to make us laugh, movies that want to make us cry, and movies that want to try and help us learn something important about the human condition. And then there are movies that exist for no other reason than to stimulate the robot-and-monster-fueled pleasure center deep in the heart of our inner eight-year-old boy.
Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim, stomping into theaters on July 12, is very much the latter sort of film -- and as Roland Emmerich could tell you, making a really good one is nowhere near as easy as it looks, so in spite of del Toro's plentiful filmmaking bona fides, it'd be easy to understand if you've been sort of on the fence about all this.
Del Toro would like to change your mind, however, and to that end, he's just released the 2:38 clip he put together for Comic-Con attendees. It wasn't initially supposed to have an online life of its own, but he couldn't resist sharing it -- and after watching it, we can understand why, because these scenes make a pretty powerful case for Pacific Rim as the rompin' stompin' popcorn chompin' good time of the summer.
Yes, we're aware of how lame that last rhyme was. But we don't care, because we just watched that trailer, and our minds are happy goo. Hit play below, and prepare to submit to that inner eight-year-old -- DUDES THIS LOOKS AWESOME.
