'Godzilla 2' Scheduled for June 2018

With Godzilla director Gareth Edwards committed to a Star Wars spinoff as well as a follow-up to his successful reboot for the scaly big green guy, we've been wondering how Legendary and Lucasfilm's plans would play out in terms of scheduling -- and when these two Edwards-helmed tentpoles might find their way to theaters.

We still don't know much of anything about Edwards' Star Wars project, but we can pretty much guarantee that it won't be making its debut in June 2018, because that's when the Godzilla sequel is getting here: June 8, 2018, to be exact, roughly a year and a half after Legendary bows its King Kong-inspired Skull Island in November 2016.

As we previously reported, plans for the Godzilla sequel call for a slew of giant monsters -- including the well-known franchise villains Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah.
