Get Ready for 'Paranormal Activity 5'

Paranormal Activity 4

Much has been made of Paranormal Activity 4's soft opening -- its $30 million weekend gross represents a pretty steep drop from the last installment -- but another sequel is still on the way.

As with many horror franchises, Paranormal Activity movies are incredibly cheap to make -- PA4 only cost around $5 million -- so even though it seems like the audience for this particular series is beginning to dwindle, it's still a no-brainer moneymaker for Paramount.

Hence not one, but two Paranormal pictures in production: We can expect to see the fifth installment in the series next October, with the previously reported "Latino-themed spinoff" arriving in the spring.

While reviews were dismal for PA4, returning PA3 directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have done a lot more with the series than most thought possible, and at least a portion of the fanbase seems eager to see how the franchise's creative team plans to tie up the broadening mythology they've established over the last few films.
